From a junior doctor at St Thomas' Hospital

I worked with Joseph in the Lane Fox Unit, High Dependency Unit and Intensive Care Unit. He would frequently tell me about his home-renovation project. I am still amazed and inspired by how he fitted everything into life without ever seeming totally overwhelmed, from DIY to his PhD and clinical commitments. He had a passion for everything he did. While being a high achiever, Joseph was very modest, down-to-earth and easy to befriend. He was one of the most energetic people I have ever worked with. He was always supportive and went out of his way to offer guidance and mentorship to his juniors. He encouraged me to pursue my ambitions and reassured me when I doubted myself. Joseph was a superb doctor - the kind who make patients and staff breathe a sigh of relief upon his arrival. Joseph was a living example of the idea that anything is possible if you want it enough. Whatever you wish for or dream of can be achieved ... and with a smile rather than a frown! But Joseph knew that when one works hard, one also deserves to play hard! He will be greatly missed. I consider it a privilege to have met and worked with Joseph.
